The Lake Wales Arts Center has something for everyone. It is a treasure trove of visual art and music located in the charming historic building at the corner of State Road 60 and 11th Street in Lake Wales, Florida. The Lake Wales Arts Center is owned and operated by the Lake Wales Arts Council and offers a year-round variety of classes, concerts and exhibitions in a state of-the-arts gallery.
Since opening in 1976, the Depot has evolved into a resource center for the collection, conservation, exhibition, and study of materials pertaining to the history of Lake Wales, Florida. It is the goal of the Lake Wales Museum and Cultural Center, popularly known as The Depot Museum, to serve as the means by which the historical record of Lake Wales --both past and present-- may be preserved and shared with the citizens of the community.
Lake Wales Ridge State Forest consists of four separate tracts which contain outstanding examples of naturally-functioning ecosystems. Since 1984 portions of the forest have been purchased with Florida's Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) Program funds. The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, utilizes a multiple use management system which allows outdoor recreation pursuits while managing the forest resources. Also considered are protection and enhancement of endangered and threatened species, and the maintenance of the natural communities found in the forest. Lake Wales Ridge State Forest is a unique, beautiful place where many of Florida's rare and endangered plants and animals flourish.

A gravity hill- THE LEGEND: "Many years ago an Indian village on Lake Wales was plagued by raids of a huge gator. The Chief, a great warrior, killed the gator in a battle that created a small lake. The chief was buried on the north side. Pioneer mail riders first discovered their horses laboring down hill, thus naming it "Spook Hill." When the road was paved, cars coasted up hill. Is this the gator seeking revenge, or the chief still trying to protect his land?"

Accelerated Flight Training starts here. The two week Accelerated Private Pilot license or certificate as its actually called is only possible with dedication and hard work. At some pilot training schools you will be quoted a price based on the FAA minimum of 40 hours training. This is not realistic as the FAA average pilot has over 85 hours and more. By using our accelerated flight school training you can eliminate unproductive time and acquire your certificate (or license) in about 50-60 hours of flight training and instruction.
Designated in 2003 as Florida’s “Official Aviation Museum and Education Center”, the Florida Air Museum displays a rich variety of aircraft and artifacts covering the history and significance of the first 100 years of flight. The Museum features a dynamic display of the best examples aviation has to offer with more than fifty aircraft on display, including one-of-a-kind designs, classics, ultralights, antiques and warbirds.
