Ridge Landing Residential Airpark

Merritt Island is not only Florida’s largest island, but also one of the most entertaining spots to plan a weekend getaway to. Whether you want to indulge in the history of the Kennedy Space Center, or catch some of the waves on Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island is the place for you and your family to do both. Of course, we often write about the great golf courses that the sunshine state has to offer, but this has to be one of our favorite spots to visit for the overall area.

So, let’s get the basics out of the way – how do you get there from our Ridge Landing Residential Airpark? While there are a few local airports you can fly into, we recommend landing your aircraft at the Merritt Island Airport which is a section of the Titusville-Cocoa Airport. With the flight totaling around 36 minutes, you may want to stay the night and take advantage of the short trip, and even better news – their tie down fees are very affordable.

Merritt Island Airport Info

  • Initial $15.00 tie down fee (waved if you purchase 10 gallons of gas)
  • After the first night, $15.00 per night
  • If you stay more than 3 nights, there rate becomes $50.00 monthly

Now, once your aircraft is tied down and secure, it’s time to figure out which one of Merritt Island’s wonderful resorts you’re going to be staying in, and what the rest of your plans for your trip are. We highly recommend visiting the Kennedy Space Center – although it’s somewhat of a large tourist attraction, it’s still interesting for the Florida resident who grew up hearing all about it.

Other than the Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island has some of the best beaches in Florida, and if you’re into nautical sports, some of the best waves. While this island is home to many other “towns,” that leaves for more activities that you and your family can participate in.

If you have a weekend off from work, or even if you’re just looking to get away for a few days, we highly recommend piloting your aircraft to Merritt Island Airport to enjoy another one of Florida’s fun flying destinations.
